DIRECTV Reports Improved Q1 Results

EL SEGUNDO, May 9: First quarter revenues at The DIRECTV
Group rose 15 percent to $3.91 billion, with net income up 43 percent to $336
million compared to Q1 2006.

At the company’s U.S. platform, revenues were up 11 percent
to $3.54 billion, and average monthly revenue per subscriber rose from $69.75
to $73.40. The platform posted an operating profit of $566 million, up from
last year’s $362 million. Churn fell from 1.45 percent to 1.44 percent. Net
subscriber additions were down from 255,000 to 235,000. DIRECTV ended the
quarter with 16.2 million subscribers, a 5 percent rise.

At DIRECTV Latin America, revenues were up 92 percent to
$369 million, but operating profit fell from $44 million to $16 million. There
were 88,000 subscriber additions, compared with last year’s 62,000. Churn was
down from 1.56 percent to 1.4 percent. The total number of DIRECTV subscribers
in Latin America as of March 31, 2007 increased 69 percent to 2.8 million. The
increase was primarily due to the 869,000 subscribers added as a result of the
merger with Sky Brazil in the third quarter of 2006, as well as the new
subscribers added throughout the region over the past year.
