Digital Exec Upped at NBCU

UNIVERSAL CITY: Jean-Briac Perrette has been named president of digital and affiliate distribution and content distribution strategy for NBC Universal.

Perrette had previously been president of digital distribution, and will continue to report to Jeff Gaspin, the president and COO of Universal Television Group. Perrette’s expanded duties will include responsibility for NBC Universal’s broadcast distribution relationships, working closely with John Eck, the president of NBC Network and Media Works. The affiliate relations and marketing teams, led by Jean Dietze and Scot Chastain, will now report to Perrette. Additionally, Perrette will inform the strategy for NBC Universal’s collective content distribution, which includes all platforms such as TV, Internet and mobile.

"In today’s complex and converging digital world, it is essential for an executive to have a broader perspective and scope of responsibility," said Gaspin. "JB has been at the forefront of the digital revolution, which makes him perfectly suited to lead these strategic efforts. I’ve worked with him for many years and know first-hand that he is one of the best strategists in this business."

"I look forward to working with JB as we further build our relationship with our affiliates, and identify new ways to navigate through an increasingly complex media environment," commented Eck.

"JB has led a number of our most successful digital distribution efforts," added Jeff Zucker, the president and CEO of NBC Universal. "In this key role, he will help ensure the continued success of the company’s overall distribution strategy in an increasingly converging media world."
