TORONTO: DHX Media has three new broadcasters signed up for the preschool series Rastamouse, originally commissioned by CBeebies.

ABC in Australia is on board, while ABC Commercial picked up home-video rights as well. Canal+ picked up rights in Poland for MiniMini. HOP! bagged the rights in Israel.

Based on the books by Michael De Souza and Genevieve Webster, Rastamouse is a stop-motion series, produced by Three Stones Media and Dinamo Productions and Little Roots.

Josh Scherba, the senior VP of distribution at DHX Media, said: “Rastamouse is a stand out show with strong international potential in both broadcast and consumer products. We’re focused on taking the property into new markets and building on the exceptional response we had from international buyers to the property at MIPCOM.”

Greg Boardman, executive producer at The Rastamouse Company, added: “The sales Rastamouse has achieved to these international territories are fantastic. It’s clear there is a space in the kids market for a show like Rastamouse, which has heart, humor and fun at its very core. We look forward to building the brand with our partner DHX as the program is picked up worldwide.”
