DECODE Takes On How to be Indie

TORONTO, September 25:
DECODE Enterprises has acquired the TV rights for a new teen comedy from Heroic
Film Company, How to be Indie,
which is set to air on YTV.

The live-action comedy
series will begin shooting this fall and will premiere on YTV in fall 2009.
Created by writer Vera Santamaria and Heroic’s executive producers John May and
Suzanne Bolch, How to be Indie is
told through the eyes of a 13-year-old girl as she balances her immigrant
family’s South Asian traditions with her Canadian lifestyle.

Neil Court, the president
of DECODE Enterprises, said: “How to be Indie is an ideal fit for our
live action slate and has a great international potential. The scripts are
fresh and funny and have a unique take on the life of a young teenage girl, her
family and friends. We’re delighted to be on board as distribution partner at
this early stage.”
