WASHINGTON, D.C.: Dawn McCall is taking a leave of absence from her role as the managing partner of International Media & Entertainment Partners, the international media consultancy founded by former Discovery Communications executives, to join the U.S. State Department.

McCall is joining the Obama Administration as coordinator of the Bureau of International Information Programs (IIP) at the Department of State. Gail Williams, the firm’s senior partner and CFO, will become managing partner in her absence. The change is effective immediately.

“Gail has worked closely with me in expanding the firm’s client base and will continue to grow and manage the firm in my absence,” said McCall. “With the deep experience our roster of talent brings to each project, our clients will continue to receive the same high-level of work they have come to expect.”

Previously, from 1996 to 2007, McCall served as the president of Discovery Networks International.
