David Sternberg to Exit Fox Cable Group

NEW YORK: David Sternberg is stepping down as the executive VP and COO of emerging networks at Fox Cable Networks, where his remit includes Fox Soccer Channel, Fox Sports en Español and FUEL TV.

Sternberg leaves at the end of December after more than a decade at the company. Announcing Sternberg’s departure, Rich Battista, the president of Fox National Cable Networks, noted: “David has been instrumental in the success of our emerging networks during his tenure at the company. He helped transform Fox Soccer Channel into the country’s premier television home of domestic and international soccer; launched and grew FUEL TV into the premier action sports network; and made Fox Sports en Español the leading Spanish language cable sports network in the U.S. These networks are well positioned for future growth. We thank David for his contributions and wish him all the best.”

FUEL TV will continue to operate under the supervision of general manager CJ Olivares, who will report to Battista. The management structure for Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Sports en Español will be revealed at a later date.

“I am grateful for my time at Fox,” said Sternberg. “It is a company filled with talented and passionate people, and I will always cherish the tremendous relationships that I developed along the way. I am especially proud of the growth experienced by Fox Soccer Channel, Fox Sports en Español, and FUEL TV, and I am looking forward to taking on new and equally exciting entrepreneurial challenges in the future.”

Sternberg has been in his current role since 2004. He joined Fox Cable Networks in 1998.
