LOS ANGELES: The third film in a trilogy of documentaries about David Lynch is to be funded through submissions from fans, who will each receive a limited edition self-portrait of the acclaimed director.

Lynch has donated to the production team a sketched self portrait, with reproductions—as a colletible print, on a t-shirt or on a tote bag—to be sent to those who make a donation of $50 towards the production costs of LYNCHthree. Donors will also receive regular newsletter updates about the film and will have access to exclusive footage. LYNCHthree comes from the same director as LYNCH (one)—following Lynch as he completed his last film, Inland Empire—and LYNCH 2. The director goes by the pseudonym blackANDwhite. He commented: "This new form of financing allows filmmakers the opportunity to make the films they want to make without the constraints placed on them by the traditional system. Having waited three years to begin the final segment in the LYNCH series, we hope that people are excited to be a part of our journey."

Producer Jon Nguyen added: “LYNCHthree benefits both financially and artistically from the online project through its dialogue with David’s fans. There are so many questions that we would like to ask David, and building a network of his fans allows us to hear what they would like to ask him if they could hold the camera.”
