Cosgrove Hall to Recreate Lost Doctor Who Episodes

LONDON, June 21: British animation outfit Cosgrove Hall
Films has been tapped by the BBC to recreate two of the more than 100 Doctor
Who
episodes missing from its archives, in
advance of a planned DVD release in November of 1968’s The Invasion.

Cosgrove Hall has been working with the BBC’s interactive
drama and entertainment department to recreate the two episodes, for which only soundtracks survived. They
used black and white animation based on original actors and set designs. Doctor
Who: The Invasion
starred
Patrick Troughton as the Doctor, battling the Cybermen. Episodes one and four
were missing. "In the year
that the Cybermen have returned to Doctor Who, it seemed a good idea to
complete one of their finest outings from the 1960s,” noted Sophie Walpole, the
head of BBC Interactive Drama and Entertainment. “The original two episodes of
the series are lost forever but we have found a unique and innovative way of
presenting this classic adventure by lovingly restoring the soundtrack and
setting it to new animation. It's a gripping adventure which still remains
faithful to the original."
