Comedy, Drama Gemini Winners Announced

 

CALGARY: Flashpoint was named best dramatic series at the 24th annual Gemini Awards, while Rick Mercer Report won in the comedy category.

Flashpoint‘s Enrico Colantoni won the Gemini for best performance by an actor in a continuing leading dramatic role, and David Suchet won for best performance by an actor in a leading role in a dramatic program or mini-series for Diverted. The supporting win went to Hugh Dillon for Of Murder and Memory.

The winner for best performance by an actress in a continuing leading dramatic role is Erin Karpluk of Being Erica. Christine Ghawi of Celine won for best performance by an actress in a leading role in a dramatic program of mini-series. Barbara Hershey nabbed a supporting win in the category for her role in Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning. The cast of Three Chords from the Truth took home honors as the best ensemble performance in a comedy program or series.

Dragons’ Den won out in the reality category, and Leah Miller was named best host in a variety program or series for So You Think You Can Dance Canada. The Donald Brittain Award for best social/political documentary program went to Tiger Spirit.
