Comedy Central Orders New Sketch Variety Show

NEW YORK, October 4: Comedy Central has picked up the new
sketch and variety show Important Things with Demetri Martin, which is tentatively scheduled to premiere during
the second half of 2008.

Important Things with Demetri Martin is the second series pick-up under Comedy Central’s
first-look agreement with Jon Stewart's Busboy Productions. The new show
features comedian Demetri Martin, who is also a contributor to The
Daily Show With Jon Stewart
. In each
episode of the series, Martin analyzes a single topic through the prism of his
unique point of view. Topics covered might include everything from "What
Happens After We Die" to "Apples."

Martin’s "Trendspotting with Demetri Martin" has
been a featured segment on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart since December 2005 and, prior to that, he performed
and wrote for Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Martin was also featured in his own one-hour,
stand-up special for Comedy Central, Demetri Martin. Person., which premiered in January 2007 and was released
earlier this month on DVD by Comedy Central Home Entertainment and Paramount
Home Entertainment. Martin will appear in the upcoming feature films The
Rocker
for Fox Atomic and Kids In
America
for Universal.

"Demetri Martin is truly an original,” said Lauren
Corrao, the executive VP of original programming and development at Comedy
Central. “He's the only guy that can take you on a hilarious journey on the
importance of apples for thirty minutes and make you laugh and make you think.
He's a regular on The Daily Show, we've
toured with him, done a CD together and a one-hour special. Obviously, we're
huge fans of Demetri and Busboy and are extremely excited about taking the next
step with them."
