Comedian Caroline Rhea Signs Up for FME’s Atomic Wedgie

LOS ANGELES,
September 9: FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has signed an agreement with
comedian, actress and talk-show host Caroline Rhea and her production studio,
lol productions, to develop two original series for the online comedy channel
Atomic Wedgie.

Rhea and
producing partner Dustin Hughes have created a total of 20 episodes for Atomic
Wedgie. The first series, Pedestrian Red Carpet, will launch on September 15, while
the untitled second series will debut at a later date. Pedestrian Red Carpet
explores what happens
when the standard celebrity red-carpet questions are posed to pedestrians on
the street. The second series features comedian Greg Hahn, who also serves as
writer and producer, leading a hidden-camera show set in a variety of different
work environments.

“I’ve known and worked
with Caroline for years and think she’ll be absolutely perfect in this format,”
said Maureen FitzPatrick, the VP of mobile and Internet development for
FremantleMedia Enterprises for the Americas. “Creating for the online space can
be an extremely liberating process and I think the concept that Caroline has
developed will definitely register with our audience.”

Rhea added, "It's
exciting, liberating and refreshing to develop in this new medium. I've wanted
to work with Maureen Fitzpatrick since Donny and Marie—the second incarnation. FremantleMedia has
the most supportive and collaborative team we've ever worked with. I haven't
felt this much freedom since going topless on the Riviera."
