Comcast Q2 Results Released

PHILADELPHIA, July 30:
Comcast Corporation posted an 11-percent rise in revenues to $8.5 billion for
the second quarter, while net income gained 8 percent to $632 million.

"We delivered solid
results in the second quarter of 2008, highlighting the strength of our
businesses even in a challenging economic environment,” said Brian L. Roberts, the chairman and CEO of Comcast Corporation. “We
continue to manage the business for profitable growth, resulting in healthy revenue,
operating cash flow, earning per share and free cash flow generation.
Importantly, we remain very focused on delivering superior products and
services to our customers, and continue to aggressively invest in projects to
extend our long-term competitive advantage and to improve the customer
experience."

In the cable segment,
revenues were up 7 percent to $8.1 billion. The monthly average total revenue
per basic subscriber increased 9 percent to $110. As of June 30, 2008, 20
percent of subscribers were triple-play customers as compared to 12 percent at
the end of last year's second quarter. The number of basic cable subscribers
fell slightly to 24.6 million, and the platform added just 320,000 digital
cable customers, versus the 823,000 added last year.

In the programming
segment—incorporating E! Entertainment Television, The Style Network, The
Golf Channel, VERSUS, and G4—revenues were up 10 percent to $366 million.
