Comcast, CBS Ink Deal for Free On Demand Shows

PHILADELPHIA, September 14: Eight of CBS’s prime-time
series, including all three titles in the CSI franchise, as well as the reality hit Survivor, will be available for free on Comcast Cable’s ON
DEMAND platform, replacing the previous model where subscribers paid 99 cents
per episode.

In addition, the deal, which also covers NCIS, Numb3rs,
Jericho and Big Brother, expands the reach of the initiative—the CBS
shows were previously only available on demand in markets served by CBS owned-
and operated stations. They are now available nationwide.

Episodes of the shows will be available for on-demand
viewing starting on the day after their network airing and will remain
available for four weeks.

"Early results show that viewers are responding to
programming being made available on emerging platforms for free, supported by
advertising," said Leslie Moonves, the president and CEO of CBS
Corporation. "We're pleased to work with our partners at Comcast to widen
our relationship with the audience we share, and at the same time monetize our
content through another window, a strategy that will be a key driver of CBS's
growth going forward."
