Cocaban Appoints Telescreen as European Licensing Agent on Arittown

SEOUL, April 23: Korea’s Cocaban has appointed Telescreen as
the European licensing agent, excluding Italy, Spain and Portugal, for the
brand Arittown.

The first
brand presentations and negotiations with European licensing partners will be
initiated early this summer. In June, Arittown will also be featured at the New York
Licensing Show at the Telescreen booth.

Arittown, created by
Tong Communication, was originally introduced in the Korean market under the
name “Poem and Your Story” in March 2005 through the community web portal site
Cyworld. In September 2006, the property was renamed Arittown, which translates to “beautiful,” and was also
launched as a fashion brand targeted at older female teens and women in their
late twenties. The licensing program is focused on fashion, design, beauty, apparel,
cosmetics, mobile content, gifts, stationery and accessories. All of the
property’s artwork show the leisure and weekend lifestyles of four girls, each
with a different job and personality. Each illustration is also accompanied by
a small poem in Korean script. Arittown images
have been licensed to the Industrial Bank in China and the web portal community
site Tencent.

Jeroen van
Kuik, the licensing director at Telescreen, commented: “Arittown is an appealing property targeted
at girls from age 16+. With its great success yet established in Asia, I
strongly believe it is a perfect brand for the development of a high quality,
fashionable and stylish merchandising program in Europe.”
