LONDON: Cineflix Media has launched Cineflix Rights, formerly Cineflix International, signaling the company’s plans to expand its IP exploitation beyond distribution and into areas such as digital content and ancillary revenue.

Cineflix Rights has some 2,500 hours in its slate. The division has recently moved into formats and scripted programming and is continuing to build out its representation of third-party producers and use of innovative funding. Cineflix Rights’ president and managing director, Paul Heaney, said:  “The creation of Cineflix Rights is an exciting move for the company, demonstrating our keen focus on significantly expanding our IP exploitation into new areas and growing the division substantially in the near future.”

Cineflix Rights has signed a number of deals ahead of MIPCOM, including selling Weird or What? with William Shatner to ZDFneo; Mayday seasons nine and ten going to Galaxie Presse/France 5; Border Security, Urban Legends and Nazi Hunters heading to Planète+ France; Inside the Box with Ty Pennington getting picked up by TMC France; and Huge Moves scoring a pickup from Spani’s La Sexta.

Adding to the catalogue, Cineflix Rights has picked up Blink TV’s Driving Wars format, Impossible Pictures’ WW2: The Last War Heroes; and Windfall Films’ Dambusters: Building the Bouncing Bomb and Lost Ships of Rome. Cineflix Rights will also be taking to MIPCOM new programming from clients such as Australia’s Seven Network; the U.K.’s Daiseybeck Productions and ITN Productions; Canada’s Frantic Films, Cream Productions and Force Four Entertainment; and Imagination Television of New Zealand.
