LOS ANGELES: Comcast International Media Group (CIMG) has sold the exclusive format rights for Australia to activeTV for WAG Wars, which features the wives and girlfriends (WAGs) of sports stars.

Each week the series features WAGs competing against one another to prove which sportsman has found the perfect girl. They will be put through a series of challenges, ranging from juggling their own career with the partner’s to cooking and party planning, dealing with media and more. Casting will begin shortly for the judges and competitors.

“CIMG’s format sales division is growing at a rapid pace,” said Jene Elzie, the VP of international sales and strategic planning at CIMG. “This deal comes on the heels of our most recent format agreements for Reality Hell and Baggage, announced at MIPTV. We look forward to working with activeTV to adapt and develop WAG Wars for Australian broadcasters.”

“The Australian public just can’t get enough of our sportsmen’s WAGS, that’s why we’re really excited about working with CIMG to present this format to Australian broadcasters,” added Amanda Peppard, activeTV’s VP of development. “The show gives viewers a chance to look into the glamour and luxury that life as a WAG brings and, on the flipside, the challenges of keeping it all together.”

“Casting is key for all activeTV’s unscripted programming,” continued Peppard. “We’ll be looking for WAGs across all sports codes—a diverse group of women possessing beauty, brains and a lot of spirit.”
