China’s Youku to Launch Animated Web Series

BEIJING: The Chinese Internet TV company Youku has unveiled plans for an animated web series, Miss Puff, to launch this April, with 104 seven-minute episodes planned for over eight seasons.

Miss Puff continues on the animated short Miss Puff’s Goldfish Bowl, which premiered last November as part of Youku’s 11 Degrees New Media Film Project. The trailer for the upcoming series has already been viewed more than 220,000 times over the past week. The original film was viewed more than 5 million times.

The series is being positioned as a Chinese Sex and the City. Each episode revolves around an object in a material girl’s everyday life. The show was created by Beijing-based independent animator Pi San, and is being produced by Youku Original, site’s in-house content production department.
