CCTV Inks Mobile Deals

BEIJING, December 12: China Mobile and China Unicom have
inked deals to bring content from state broadcaster CCTV to their subscribers’
handsets, Dow Jones reported today.

The news report cited Xi Guohua, the vice minister at the
Minister of Information Industry, as saying that the deals “will play an active
role in expanding mobile data services and content” in the Chinese market.

CCTV is currently making available to China Mobile and China
Unicom subscribers free coverage of the Asian Games, taking place in Doha,
Qatar.
