CBC Deal for PorchLight’s Animalia

LOS ANGELES, June 19: The CGI animated series Animalia, one of PorchLight Entertainment’s top properties
for Licensing Show in New York this week, has been licensed to the CBC.

The 40×26-minute production is slated for a Canadian launch
this fall, following the international debut by CBBC in the U.K. The series
brings Graeme Base’s international best-selling picture book Animalia to life and is produced by Burberry/Lux
Monkey/DoubleBase Productions in association with PorchLight Entertainment.

In addition to CBC and CBBC, the series will be broadcast on
PBS in the U.S., and Network Ten and Nickelodeon in Australia. It is being
distributed internationally by BBC Worldwide and in North America by PorchLight
Entertainment. Worldwide licensing and merchandising are being handled by
PorchLight, excluding Australia, New Zealand and the U.K., which are being
handled by BBC Worldwide.

The property is a key one for PorchLight at this week’s
Licensing Show. The company’s president and CEO, Bruce Johnson, noted: “Our goal is to come out strong with Animalia
and expand the global awareness for this
brand by maximizing the extensive recognition and appeal already generated by
Graeme Base’s classic picture book, which has sold over three million units
worldwide. The network partners already involved with Animalia are among the strongest in the world, and we now
believe, even more than ever, that we and our international agents/partners
will be able to take this brand to a very high level of success.”

PorchLight will also introduce its newly acquired brand Girl
Authority, the name of the tween girl group. Their self-titled debut album, released in April 2006 on
Rounder Zoë Records, reached No. 5 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart and No.
9 on Billboard’s Top Kid Audio chart. Road Trip, the group’s second album, released in March, was
just awarded the iParenting media award. PorchLight’s COO, William Baumann,
said, “This is an exceptional property with distinct branding and marketing
attributes. Word of mouth, their CDs and special appearances have basically
generated their popularity among tweens. Capitalizing on this growing fan base,
we plan to bring Girl Authority to a broader audience with TV and DVD
programming featuring the group.”

PorchLight will also continue to focus on its flagship
property, Jay Jay the Jet Plane.
