CASBAA Unveils Conference Lineup

HONG KONG, August 23: EchoStar chairman Charlie Ergen,
Liberty Global CEO Mike Fries and Hunan Satellite chief Wei Wen Bin, are among
the executives slated to take part in the Cable & Satellite Broadcasting
Association of Asia’s annual CASBAA Convention, which takes place October 24 to
27 in Hong Kong.

Also on the lineup for the event, with the theme “From
Bandwidth to Brandwidth”, are Ho-Chen Tan, the chairman of Taiwan’s Chunghwa
Telecom; Irwin Gotlieb, the global CEO of ad agency GroupM; Kip Meek, the chief
policy partner at Ofcom; Randall Dark, the president of HD Vision Studios; and Sofyan
Djalil, the Minister of State for Information and Communications in Indonesia.

“Annually, this is the most important gathering for our
industry in Asia,” said the Marcel Fenez, the chairman of CASBAA. “While the
market is rightly dazzled by the promise of the new technologies, our most
urgent task is to identify new business models and the most creative content as
we develop a better understanding of what is achievable within the diverse
Asian marketplace. That’s the theme for CASBAA 2006.”

Conference sessions will focus on South Asia, the emerging
markets of Indonesia and Vietnam, and new technologies such as IPTV, mobile
video and HDTV, as well as on the key markets of China, India and Japan.
