Cartoon Network, VIZ Media Unveil New Slate for Toonami Jetstream

ATLANTA, August 8: Cartoon Network and VIZ Media have
announced a new slate of action and anime programming for their free broadband
ad-supported streaming video site Toonami Jetstream, which celebrated its
one-year anniversary in July.

Toonami Jetstream is the online extension of Cartoon
Network’s Saturday prime-time action-adventure block Toonami, and resulted from a partnership between Cartoon
Network and VIZ Media. Since launch it has streamed more than 115 million video
segments and attracted an average 1.7 million unique visitors per month.

Toonami Jetstream currently allows users to watch streaming
episodes from a number of hit series such as Naruto, Zatch Bell! and Pokemon. In addition,
the site offers 24/7 access to full-length episodes of series like Hikaru
No Go,
which are not currently offered on
U.S. broadcast or basic cable television. MAR and The Prince of Tennis, which debuted exclusively in the U.S. on
ToonamiJetstream.com, now air on the linear television block.

Seven popular series are debuting on Toonami Jetstream
throughout the summer and fall, nearly doubling the site’s offerings. Three programs
have already launched on Toonami Jetstream, including the Emmy Award-winning Star
Wars: Clone Wars,
which premiered on June
25 and follows Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker as they lead the Republic
clone army in a struggle against Count Dooku, General Grievous and the
Separatists; the anime series Dragon Ball, which premiered July 2 and follows Goku as he grows in both age and
abilities in Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT; and MegaMan Star Force, which premiered July 23 and is based on the popular
CAPCOM game. Additionally, One Piece, based on the Japanese manga series, will premiere on August 13. It
centers on Monkey D. Luffy, who along with his motley crew of pirate friends,
hope to use his magical stretching powers and endless optimism to find the
legendary treasure of One Piece and become the Pirate King. Dragon
Ball Z,
which made its U.S. debut on
Cartoon Network’s Toonami block in 1996, will launch on Toonami Jetstream on
September 18. Meanwhile, Zoids Genesis, the fifth series for the Zoids anime franchise, will also premiere this fall, with a date still to be
announced. The series follows a young excavator named Ruge who awakens the
mighty Murasame Liger Zoid and joins the fight to restore peace to Planet Zi
from the militaristic nation of Digald. Finally, the comedic anime series Bobobo-bo
Bo-bobo
, making its debut on November 5, is
set in the 31st century and sees Bo-BoBo harnesses his infamous Nose
Hair Karate techniques to bring justice to the vicious Hair Hunters and to
ensure the safety of hair everywhere.

“TV lovers are increasingly viewing the Internet as an
integral part of their entertainment experience and young animation fans are no
exception,” said Paul Condolora, the senior VP and general manager of Cartoon
Network New Media. “We’re proud to celebrate the first anniversary of the site
with a new lineup of popular action and animation shows that will surely please
our viewers.”
