Cartoon Network Asia, Marvel Strike Output Deal

HONG KONG: A new output deal sees Cartoon Network in Asia Pacific become home to a host of Marvel superheroes such as Thor and The Avengers.

Cartoon Network has been named the exclusive partner for Marvel’s next three productions: Marvel Super Hero Squad, The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Thor. Marvel Super Hero Squad follows a group from Super Hero City who are united to face off with infamous criminals from VillainVille. Iron Man, Wolverine, the Hulk, the Silver Surfer, Thor and the Falcon are always up for the job. A host of Marvel characters such as Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Giant Man and Wasp are also featured in The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The new property watches as the group assembles to fight evil forces. The Thor animated series follows the heroic thunder god of Norse mythology he defends his mythical home of Asgard against fantastical villains, fiendish hordes, winged creatures and angry giants.

Marvel Super Hero Squad is set to launch in 2010 with The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in 2011 and Thor for 2012.

“This output deal with Marvel is a landmark partnership that will see some of the world’s most popular super-heroes coming to Cartoon Network,” said Mark Eyers, the VP of content for Turner Entertainment Networks Asia. “With the acquisition of these new Marvel series, Cartoon Network is well positioned at the forefront of kids’ channels in Asia Pacific.”
