Carnival Films Receives ITV1 Mini-series Commission

LONDON, October 19:
Independent British drama producer Carnival Films has been commissioned by ITV1
to produce Midnight Man, a
3×1-hour conspiracy thriller mini-series starring James Nesbitt.

Written by David Kane (Sea
of Souls
), Midnight Man tells a story of a former journalist named Max
Raban, played by Nesbitt, who is reduced to raking through bins for celebrity
stories. Everything changes when he uncovers information that will lead him
into a frightening world of deceit and distrust. As Max’s world crumbles around
him he struggles to find a way to expose the truth.

The mini-series will also
star Catherine McCormack (28 Weeks Later, Spy Game), Rupert
Graves (Clapham Junction, The
Dinner Party
), Ian Puleston Davies
(Vincent, Silent Witness), Reece Dinsdale (Conviction) and Zara Turner (The Brief, Holy Cross). It will be directed by David Drury (Fallen Angel, Defence of the Realm), produced by Alan J. Wands (Rebus) and executive produced by Gareth Neame for
Carnival Films. The series will be distributed by Southern Star International.

Laura Mackie, the director
of drama at ITV, commented: “David Kane’s Midnight Man is an intelligent, modern, slick thriller from the
award-winning Carnival Films which combines the seedy underbelly of news
information gathering with the dirty world of international conspiracy.”
