Camp Rock Delivers for Disney

BURBANK, June 23: Camp
Rock
premiered as Disney Channel’s
second highest-rated original movie of all time on Friday with an average of
8.9 million viewers, second only to High School Musical 2, becoming cable’s most-watched entertainment
broadcast of the 2007/08 season.

The film, starring the
popular Jonas brothers, also made Disney Channel the number one network in its
8 p.m. slot, out-rating runner-up CBS by more than 3 million viewers. It was
also top among kids 6 to 11 with 3.5 million viewers and tweens 9 to 14 with
3.4 million viewers.

The film subsequently made
its network-TV premiere on Saturday on ABC during The Wonderful World of
Disney
block. On ABC, it was the top
summer Saturday entertainment telecast on any broadcast network in nearly six
years with its 3.6 million average viewers.

The film is set to air on
Disney.com today. International rollout on Disney Channels begins in August.
