Burch Exits Virgin Media

LONDON, August 21: Steve Burch is stepping down as the CEO
of British cable platform Virgin Media “for personal reasons” and is due to
return to the U.S.

Burch’s resignation comes as Virgin Media explores its
strategic options, including a likely sale of the company. Furthermore, the
platform’s subscriber loss continued in the second quarter, with 40,000
customers jumping ship because of Virgin Media’s loss of the Sky basic
channels.

A search for a new CEO will begin shortly. In the meantime,
Neil Berkett, Virgin Media's COO, will assume the role of acting CEO with
responsibility for driving forward the company's strategy and operational development.

Burch joined NTL in December 2005 to helm the merged
NTL/Telewest entity and he led the acquisition of Virgin Mobile and the
successful re-branding of the company's residential operations under the Virgin
brand. He moved to the U.K. after 17 years with Comcast Corporation in the
U.S., most recently as president of the Atlantic Division.
