BritBox Grows Slate with New Originals, Live Events & More

BritBox, the streaming service from BBC Studios and ITV, is expanding its programming roster with several new originals, limited series, live events and popular U.K. titles.

In the fall, BritBox’s next original crime drama The Bay, starring Morven Christie (Granchester) and Jonas Armstrong (Ripper Street), is set to premiere on the platform. Set for a September debut is fellow original The Victim, a four-part drama about a mother’s quest for justice following her son’s murder starring Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire). Season seven of Father Brown joins BritBox on August 1, with all six prior seasons of the series rolling out in the following months.

The third and final season of the family comedy Mum, starring Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread) and Peter Mullan (Ozark, Westworld), bowed on July 25. Gavin & Stacey’s 2019 Christmas Special is also coming to BritBox, though a premiere date has yet to be announced.

BritBox Now Events include The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, for which BritBox will provide coverage from the BBC’s Blue Tent for three weeks, starting August 6. The platform will also stream The Royal Variety Performance, a live variety show held annually in the U.K. to raise money for the Royal Variety Charity.
