Breakthrough to Produce Animated Sitcom for CanWest

TORONTO, December 19: Breakthrough Animation has received a
commission from CanWest Media to produce 13 half-hour episodes of the animated
sitcom Producing Parker for the Canadian
cable network TVtropolis.

Producing Parker
follows the adventures of an overworked and underpaid producer, Parker, and her
crew of colorful characters. The episodes center on the behind-the-scenes
happenings of The Dee Show, a daytime talk show that sells viewers the idea of
“having it all.” The series was developed by Laura Kosterski (Naked
Josh
) and Breakthrough Animation’s Kevin
Gillis, Carolyn Newman and Christin Simms, and is produced in association with
CanWest Media.

Producing Parker is
a great fit for TVtropolis,” said Gillis, the executive producer and managing
partner at Breakthrough Animation. “Prime-time animation has traditionally
always been about the guys. This series promises to break new ground for
today’s modern audiences on many platforms for both men and women.”

“I was immediately attracted to the quirky humor and top
quality of the writing team on this series,” said Christine Shipton, the VP of
original programming for CanWest MediaWorks. “Combined with Breakthrough
Animation’s strong animation skills, I know this show will attract audiences in
our CanWest family of channels.”
