Breakthrough Begins Production on New Drama Slate

TORONTO, June 13: Breakthrough
Films & Television has started production on an extensive slate of new
drama series, including Easton Meets West, Less Than Kind and Confessions of a Porn Addict (COPA).

Breakthrough has begun
producing the pilot for Easton Meets West
with Silver Tip Picture for CBC
in Canada. It is a light-hearted family drama following an unconventional left
wing family from Toronto that moves to a suburb of Calgary, Alberta, next to an
ultra-conservative family. The company has also begun co-producing 13
half-hours of Less Than Kind with
Buffalo Gal Pictures for CHUM in Canada. Less Than Kind is a dark comedy about a 15-year-old named Sheldon
Blecher who tries to maneuver through the maze of teenage angst and unrequited
love. The comic mockumentary Confessions of a Porn AddictA Love Story (COPA),
about a semi-neurotic computer geek who is addicted to porn, is currently in
production for The Movie Network and Movie Central in Canada.

The company has also begun
development on two new drama programs—Rachel’s World and Quant.
Breakthrough and Family Channel are in development on half-hour episodes of Rachel’s
World,
which follows the comedic high
school adventures of Rachel White. Thirteen one-hour episodes of Quant,
a co-production with Vérité Films,
are currently being developed. Set in
Saskatoon, Quant is centered on a
detective named Russell Quant who handles often-perilous cases with comic flair
and his trademark sense of style.

In addition, the Canadian
channel Showcase has greenlit a third season of Paradise Falls for its 2008 lineup, and the U.S.-based network
here! TV has also added the third season of the series to its lineup.
Twenty-six half-hours are currently in production and will be available for
international broadcasters in the spring/summer of 2008.

Breakthrough Entertainment, the
company’s distribution division is handling worldwide sales and pre-sales for
all properties.
