Breakthrough Announces New Hire, Promotions

TORONTO, October 26:
Breakthrough Films & Television has made three key promotions and has hired
Alethea Robinson to the newly created role of manager of marketing and
communications.

Robinson will report to
Peter Williamson, an executive producer/partner at Breakthrough, and will
oversee the company’s corporate branding and marketing strategy. Her remit will
also include promotion and publicity on Breakthrough’s various television
properties and licensed merchandise. Robinson previously worked for DECODE
Entertainment in the marketing and communications department.

Amy Marcella has been
upped from line producer to the role of supervising producer, charged with
oversight of all live-action productions including the company’s drama,
documentary, comedy and lifestyle programs. Marcella has been with Breakthrough
for more than eight years, working on various projects including Shaye, Plastic Makes Perfect and the hit comedy series Kenny vs. Spenny. She will report to Williamson and Ira Levy, the
executive producers and partners.

Stephanie van Bruggen
has been promoted to supervising producer for Breakthrough Animation, reporting
to Kevin Gillis, the executive producer/managing partner of Breakthrough’s
animation arm. Van Bruggen will oversee the company’s animated projects
including Atomic Betty, Miss
BG
, Captain Flamingo, the new children’s series Jimmy Two Shoes and the new prime-time adult series Producing
Emily
. She has been with
Breakthrough Animation since the company launched, and has line-produced over
160 episodes of television.

Additionally, Paul Nash
has also been upped to art director. He will continue to head Breakthrough’s
art department, executing print design for all ad campaigns, promotional and
marketing materials, as well as corporate branding. Nash has been with the
company for six years.
