Bravo U.K. Secures Kudos Drama

LONDON, August 3: Flextech has
made its biggest-ever secondary rights acquisition, picking up Kudos Film and
Television’s Life on Mars for
the fall lineup on its male-targeted Bravo network.

The drama, produced for
the BBC, sees Sam Tyler, a driven and ambitious young detective in present-day
Manchester, transported back to 1973 after a road accident. The eight-part
series follows his 21st century account of life in the 1970s. It
launched on BBC One in January, averaging an audience of 6.7 million during its
run. Season two is set to air on the BBC early next year.

Jonathan Webb, the
director of programs at Bravo, Trouble, Challenge and Player, described Life
on Mars
as the “stand out drama
series of 2006. It’s a fantastic show—full of warmth and with great on
screen chemistry. The acquisition shows how far we have moved Bravo in its
ambition to provide smart and funny entertainment to British men.”
