Beyond Scores Latin American Sales

SYDNEY: Beyond Distribution has sold 45 hours of programming across Latin America in deals with Discovery and Turner Networks.

Discovery Latin America took a package that includes Deadly Women, a series that touches on some of the worlds most horrifying female murderers; Secrets of the Occult, which explores the mysterious claims and practice of the occult; and Science Impossible, a look into talents and abnormal physical feats and how it is all possible. Deadly Women, an original production for Discovery ID, is one of the highest-rated series on the U.S. network and will now air on Discovery Channel across the Latin America region.

Sherry Fynbo, the VP for the Americas at Beyond Distribution, commented, “The re-enactments are gripping, true and will keep the suspense high as we delve into the mind of young female killers. It is fascinating as many of these women are unassuming and look like the ‘girl-next-door’."

Beyond has also firmed up a sale with Turner Network’s TRUE TV for five titles. Jetstream chronicles the white-knuckle adventures of elite pilots training to fly supersonic fighter jets, while Combat School follows infantry soldiers through intense and realistic combat training in preparation for Afghanistan. Emergency explores the staff in emergency departments and this expanding medical specialty, Deadly Crossing tracks an exclusive group of sea pilots who guide giant ships over the deadliest stretch of ocean in the world and Slammin’ Iron follows proud ironworkers who tirelessly and defiantly campaign to rebuild the World Trade Centre.

Fynbo concluded, “We are in a prime position to make these pan-Latin placements as our U.S. cable production slate is a good synergy for the Latin American region.”
