Beyond Entertainment has formed a new joint venture with music producers TNC Media to develop, produce and distribute music-related feature documentary films and TV series.

BeyondTNC is launching its first projects at MIPCOM. These include Boomtown, the first official documentary charting the success of legendary Irish punk band The Boomtown Rats. The doc will be produced by Sideline Productions for BMG Films and features exclusive interviews with the four members of the re-grouped Boomtown Rats (Bob Geldof, Garry Roberts, Pete Briquette and Simon Crowe) plus insights from special guests, including Bono, Sting, Sinead O’Connor and Dave Stewart.

The company will also launch the new music documentary Waiting: The Van Duren Story, about ’70s musician Van Duren, who was tipped to be the next Paul McCartney but faded into obscurity. His lost career is rediscovered by two filmmakers who set out on a mission to find him while meeting a host of talented musicians along the way. Produced by Grow Yourself Up Films, it features an interview with Andrew Loog Oldham (former manager of The Rolling Stones).

Bill Lord, CEO at TNC Media, commented: “This is a really exciting opportunity. We are seeking to collaborate with rights holders, producers and directors for music content that is in great demand at present. We felt Beyond was the ideal partner for this venture, given their long and established experience in the industry and recent success with Beat Bugs and Motown Magic.”

Michael Murphy, general manager at Beyond Distribution, added: “With both the TV and music industries changing at a rapid pace, Beyond TNC is unique in combining experience from the TV, film and music industries. Together, we will be looking to develop, fund and co-produce music-related content for theatrical and television distribution.”
