BET Takes HBO’s The Wire

LOS ANGELES, January 3: The Viacom-owned BET network has
acquired all 50 episodes of The Wire,
HBO’s critically acclaimed drama series.

Each episode will air on the basic cable network in a
90-minute block. The first three episodes will be shown in a three-day marathon
beginning Wednesday, January 10 through Friday, January 12 from 9- 10:30 p.m.
Beginning January 18, The Wire can be
seen every Thursday night at 9 p.m. with an encore run on Saturday nights at 9
p.m. Set in Baltimore, it explores the worlds of drug dealers and addicts,
homicide and narcotics detectives and politicians. It was created by David
Simon, who also serves as executive producer. Robert F. Colesberry and Nina
Kostroff Noble also executive produce. Joe Chapelle is co-executive producer
and Edward Burns and Karen Thorson are producers.
