beActive to Roll out New Forensic Game Show Format for Teens

LISBON, September 19:
Portugal’s beActive, a producer of cross-media entertainment formats, will
unveil the new teen game show format Young CSI, set in the world of forensic crime-scene
investigation, at MIPCOM.

Young CSI combines games, Internet and mobile phones,
high-tech gadgets and creative science problem solving. In each episode, two
teams will compete against each other in an against-the-clock investigation to
unveil the circumstances behind the mysterious disappearance of important
school exams, the break-and-entry into the library or the unauthorized access
into the school’s computer system.

The game show will have a
final and semifinal stage to find the CSI team champion. The first stage of the
game show takes place on the Web, where teenagers can sign up for an online
contest to be selected for the show three months before the broadcast. The
players will have to investigate and crack online non-violent cases posted on
the website. The teams with the best scores will be selected to participate in
the game show on TV. In each episode, two teams will have to investigate a new
crime and try to solve it before the other team does. Moderated by an in-studio
host, the show is shot in a special studio set where both teams will go through
each step of the investigation to be the first team to identify the guilty
culprits and to be able to demonstrate how the crime was committed. As crime
scene investigators, they will have at their disposal computer workstations
with professional forensics software to identify and match fingerprints, and
other special gadgets and tools such as microscopes, UV Evidence Light and
fingerprint charts.
