BBC Worldwide Set for Fifth Annual Latin Showcase

NEW YORK, August 11: BBC
Worldwide is returning to Brazil for its fifth annual BBC Showcase Latin
America, where it will highlight its varied catalogue to buyers from across the
region.

Taking place September 8
to 10 at the JW Marriott in Rio de Janeiro, BBC Showcase Latin America is a
dedicated market for buyers from within the region and from U.S. Hispanic broadcasters.
Highlights of the catalogue include 6,000 hours available for digital
distribution and 475 hours of high-definition content.

Steve Macallister, the managing director of BBC Worldwide Sales and Distribution, said,
“BBC Worldwide has one of the strongest content catalogues in the world and I’m
delighted that we’re heading back to Rio to host this unique event, and present
the newest jewels in our crown. Latin America is a key focus for us and we look
forward to meeting with both new and existing clients to identify opportunities
and further grow our business in the region.”

Neil
Nightingale, the head of the BBC Natural History Unit, will be on hand in
Rio to introduce new properties like the ten-part Life, as well as Seven Ages of Rock and Infamous Assassinations. The drama portfolio features the likes of Mistresses and Sharpe’s Peril, while headlining the comedy lineup are Beautiful
People
and The Cup. On the kids’ front, In the Night Garden will be a key focus.
