BBC Worldwide Clinches Australian Deal for In the Night Garden

LONDON/SYDNEY, February 12: ABC Network in Australia has
acquired BBC Worldwide’s BAFTA-winning children’s series In the Night Garden, which has now been licensed into 20 territories
around the world.

Produced by Ragdoll Productions, the team behind the
preschool hit Teletubbies, In
the Night Garden
can be seen from Canada to
the Middle East and Hong Kong. In the Night Garden is about a magical, picture-book place that exists
between waking and sleeping in a child’s imagination. Narrated by British actor
Sir Derek Jacobi, the program debuted on the children’s digital preschool
channel CBeebies in 2007. The series won a BAFTA for Best Pre-School Live Action
program.

In The Night Garden
is a truly stunning piece of television which transcends geographic and
cultural boundaries to capture the imagination of children across the globe,”
said Steve Macallister, the managing director of global TV sales at BBC
Worldwide. “Rapidly becoming one of the BBC’s most successful international
children’s hits, its success looks to continue well into 2008 as it takes its
place as one of BBC Worldwide’s key brands.”
