BBC & NHK Lead Venice TV Awards

The BBC and NHK were among the big winners at the Venice TV Awards, each securing three wins.

Held two weeks after the Venice Film Festival, the event recognizes excellence in 19 categories. The TV series win went to the Canadian drama Empathie, while the direction award went to Yle Finland’s Queen of Fucking Everything.

The BBC was awarded for Ludwig (comedy), Crongton (children and youth) and The Man Who Definitely Didn’t Steal Hollywood (documentary), while Atomic People earned the Jury Prize. NHK Japan won awards for Driving into the Storm (TV movie), Luka and the Flower of the Sun (animation), and Deep Ocean: Kingdom of the Coelacanth (cinematography).
