LONDON: Adastra Creative is producing 13 new episodes of Grandpa in My Pocket in a third season for CBeebies, which has also commissioned a Christmas special based on the property.

DECODE Enterprises holds the worldwide TV, DVD and consumer products rights for Grandpa in my Pocket, and will again be distributing both the series and the special. Volume one of the first season of Grandpa in my Pocket was released on DVD in mid March, with a second volume scheduled for release in June.

Mellie Buse, co-creator, said: “The first two series of Grandpa in my Pocket were a joy to work on from the moment the concept was devised right up until post-production on series two. In fact for us the character and situation remain as fresh, fun and full of possibility as they have ever been—so to receive not just a third series commission but one for a Christmas special is wonderful news.”

Executive producer for CBeebies, Sarah Colclough, added: "We are delighted to have more episodes of Grandpa in My Pocket. Together, Grandpa and Jason make a great team and have a host of hilarious adventures. Comedy is one of our most successful genres. The series has a fantastic cast of characters, lots of energy, and a real sense of fun. It also explores that very special relationship between grandparents and their grandchildren. Grandpa’s zest for life and his very special bond with Jason make for life-affirming, family viewing."

Jenny Johnstone, the managing director of Brandzoo, the show’s licensing agent for the U.K., commented: “The commissioning of a third series of Grandpa in my Pocket is a vote of confidence in everyone involved with the show. The success story of the television series continues with this great news. With awareness now sky-high, we are looking forward to making Grandpa, the brand, equally popular and successful.”
