BBC America to Co-Produce The Hour

NEW YORK: BBC America has signed on as a co-production partner for the new six-part drama series The Hour, which BBC Two commissioned from Kudos Film and Television.

Created and written by the BAFTA-winning Abi Morgan, the thriller, set in the 1950s against the backdrop of the BBC news room in London, stars Dominic West, Romola Garai and Ben Whishaw. It is represented worldwide by Shine International, which brokered the co-production deal between Kudos and BBC America.

“I’m very proud that BBC America is co-producing The Hour, a drama with complex storytelling and a range of compelling characters," said Perry Simon, general manager of channels at BBC Worldwide America. "It’s another example of BBC America’s commitment to bringing the highest quality British drama to American audiences. I’m also delighted to be partnering again with Kudos, the producers of Law & Order UK, one of our channel’s signature series.”
