Bavaria to Launch Johan Falk Collection

MUNICH/CANNES: Bavaria Media will present six 90-minute episodes of Johan Falk, centered on a cool-headed crime-fighter, with a special event at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes on October 5.

Jakob Eklund, who leads the case, will be on hand, as well as director Anders Nilsson and producer Joakim Hansson. Johan Falk follows a crime-fighter who, after a few years with Europol, joins the SSI in Gothenburg. The SSI is a unique task force built to combat organized crime, a team of highly trained specialists working hand in hand to get the bad guys. The movie collection is shot in HD and will be ready for delivery this fall. It is produced by Sweden’s Modern Studios in association with Germany’s ZDF, Swedish commercial broadcaster TV4 and Bavaria affiliate Bremedia.

Johan Falk is solid, suspenseful, and well-executed crime story-telling with a nice dash of action,” said Oliver Kreuter, the head of television at Bavaria Media. “This type of programming is exactly what many international buyers are looking for.”

“MIPCOM is going to be even more important this year,” he added. “In times like these, we are especially proud to have so many hours, genres, and choices to offer to our international clients in Cannes.”

Bavaria will be bringing more than 390 hours of new programming to MIPCOM, including new episodes of the long-running series Storm of Love, Belgian crime drama Aspe, Germany family offering Zoo Doctor and children’s series Rudi, the Racing Pig. Bavaria also has the telenovela Lilli and the Girls to offer buyers. The German novela is about the fate of four female factor workers who are trying to save their jobs and their town. Lilli And The Girls was produced by Rubicon Film and Bavaria Fernsehproduktion for German public broadcaster ARD. It has 100 half-hour episodes, shot in HD.
