AXN Central Europe Hits 5-Million Mark

BUDAPEST, July 18: Sony Pictures Television International’s
AXN channel has hit the 5-million-household milestone in Central Europe, where
it is available in Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania,
Moldova and Bulgaria.

In announcing the channel’s gains, Stephen White, the GM of
AXN in Central Europe, noted, “Reaching 5 million subscribers in less than 3
years is testament to the Herculean efforts of both my team here in Budapest
and the HBO distribution teams across the region. We intend to keep on
investing in television’s hottest series and movies to increase our growing
fan-base in the region still further.”

AXN was launched in the Central European region in October
2003. Bolstered by its success, parent company SPTI last week announced plans
to launch two new thematic channels in Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary:
AXN SCI-FI and AXN CRIME.
