LOS ANGELES: The multiplatform media company AwesomenessTV has tapped veteran TV executive Paula Kaplan as the head of talent and live content.

In this newly created position, Kaplan, who spent 20 years at Nickelodeon, will lead AwesomenessTV’s talent initiatives and casting strategies across all film and series production. Kaplan will also oversee the creation and execution of brand-defining live events and programming.

At Nickelodeon, Kaplan held several positions, including executive VP of original programming and live events; executive VP of talent/general manager of west coast; senior VP of talent; and VP of talent relations. She is also credited with building Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards, for which she served as executive producer. Under her leadership, Nickelodeon developed talent that became pop-culture icons, including Nick Cannon, Kenan Thompson, Ariana Grande, Emma Roberts, Josh Peck, Miranda Cosgrove and Jennette McCurdy. Kaplan joins AwesomenessTV after serving as a consultant for digital brands and film companies, working on CBS Films’ 2015 release of The Duff.

“Having worked closely with Paula for many years, her eye for talent and ability to cultivate stars for the young adult audience is unmatched, which is why she is the perfect person to head up our talent and live content division,” said Brian Robbins, the founder and CEO of AwesomenessTV. “Her strong relationships throughout the creative community will play an integral role at AwesomenessTV as we build our channels and continue to expand in film, series and live events.”
