Animax Broadcast Japan Bolsters Staff

TOKYO, September 2: Masato
“Mark” Oda has been appointed as deputy president and general manager of the
anime channel Animax Broadcast Japan.

In his new position, Oda
will be responsible for the channel’s day-to-day operational management and
development, including programming, sales, marketing, on-air promotions and
technical operations. He will also be a member of the company’s board. He replaces
Shingo Ishiyama who has left the channel. Since 2005, Oda has served as
executive director of marketing for Sony Pictures Television International’s
(SPTI) networks group.

Animax Broadcast Japan is
part of SPTI’s networks group and is a joint venture between Sony Pictures
Entertainment Japan and four Japanese animation studios—Toei Animation,
Sunrise, TMS Entertainment and Nihon Ad Systems.

Masao Takiyama, the
president and representative director of Animax Broadcast Japan, said: “Mark
Oda has a thorough knowledge of the Animax brand, plus the added benefit of
having worked with all of Sony Pictures’ television networks throughout the
world. Mark’s keen business sense, creativity and enthusiasm will be assets to
Animax as we continue to find ways to expand our business.”
