All3Media, BBC Worldwide Score Queen’s Award

LONDON: All3Media International and BBC Worldwide are among the some 100 businesses that received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade this year, recognizing substantial growth in a company’s international earnings and commercial success.

BBC Worldwide demonstrated a 33-percent increase in overseas revenues and the investment of more than £1 billion of those earnings into British content over the last three years. This is the second time that BBC Worldwide has won the accolade—it first won in 2002. "It’s an enormous honor to receive this award and testimony to the hard work and commitment of all at BBC Worldwide, its partners and customers," said John Smith, the CEO of BBC Worldwide. "Content created by the BBC and the U.K. creative industries are the lifeblood of our company, whether in television or publishing, and we are proud to represent this wealth of British talent across the world. We pride ourselves not just in generating export income for the U.K. generally, but also in building international partnerships that benefit the creative industries and ultimately the license fee payer.”

All3Media International, meanwhile, was recognized for upping its turnover from £2.5 million in 2004 to £18.5 million in 2007, off the back of its 2,000-hour-plus catalogue. The company is also a significant investor in program development and deficit financing. “We are thrilled to have been won this prestigious award—the Queen’s Award for Enterprise marks a real tribute to the hard work and dedication of the team of people working here at All3Media International who have grown the business over the last four and a half years," said Louise Pedersen, the managing director of the company. "So a huge thank you to them as well—of course—to all the talented producers who we work with and who have supplied us with such great programs and formats Thanks also to all our broadcaster and producer buyers for supporting us and our shows internationally.”
