Al Jazeera Extends Content into Hotels

DOHA, August 25: The Al Jazeera Network has completed a new deal with
hospitality entertainment specialists OTRUM, making its news content available
to hotels across Europe and the Middle East.

The network is working to build
its presence in European hotels, as well as continuing its distribution
expansion in 2008 into new global markets. OTRUM provides interactive
television solutions and content to the hospitality industry. It develops and
supplies hardware, software, TV channels, films and Internet access.

Bjørn Ove Skjeie, the president
and CEO of OTRUM, said: “The inclusion of Al Jazeera into OTRUM’s TV channel
portfolio reinforces our commitment to offering a balanced mix of channel
genres, cultural programming and up to the minute news. OTRUM’s aim is to
enable hotels to choose TV channels that fit with their guest mix.”

The Al Jazeera Arabic-language news channel is now
available to more than 50 million households, while its sister English-language news channel
reaches more than 120 million households worldwide.

Phil Lawrie, the director of global distribution
for Al Jazeera Network, said: “We are excited by this new agreement with OTRUM.
This is a powerful partnership that places our channels in prime position
around Europe and meets the strong demand from hotel guests for access to our
content. We look forward to a long and very successful relationship with
OTRUM.”
