Aftermath Series Set for Nat Geo & History Television

TORONTO: Cream Productions has completed production on the new 4×1-hour Aftermath series for National Geographic Channel in the U.S. and History Television in Canada, and the show will be launched at MIPTV by ITV Studios Global Entertainment.

A follow-up to the CGI science special Aftermath: The World Without Humans, each episode examines the question of how could we cope if the world’s population doubled. The first episode is to debut on today at 10 p.m. on National Geographic Channel and on March 29 at 8 p.m. on History Television.

“This series shows just how fragile the balance of nature is and that changing just one thing effectively changes everything,” said Christopher Rowley, Cream’s co-founder and executive producer, who also directed two of the episodes: "World Without Oil" and "Population Overload." Rowley added: “It makes us think about our place in the world, and just how precarious our existence may be. Each scenario also reveals incredible insight about how our world works and the way we live every day.”

Sydney Suissa, the executive VP of content for NGCI, commented, “While humans have an incredible ability to adapt, Aftermath critically examines mankind’s ability to survive when our environment and resources are pushed to the brink. National Geographic Channel is pleased to partner with Cream Productions on this eye-opening investigation to reveal how we move forward if fundamental elements of our world are altered.”

“We aim to make quality programs that challenge audiences with new perspectives on history and current events and Aftermath does exactly that,” said Christine Shipton, the senior VP of drama and factual content at Canwest Broadcasting. “The massive success of Aftermath: The World Without Humans proved that there is a large appetite for this type of programming on History Television and we can’t wait to bring this great new follow-up series to our viewers.”
