CANNES: A+E Networks’ Lifetime is expanding Broad Focus, an initiative focused on supporting and developing female writers, producers and directors, for its channels globally.

Broad Focus first launched in the U.S. in April. Lifetime formally kicked off the global launch of Broad Focus at the annual Women in Global Entertainment luncheon at MIPCOM. As part of the global initiative, Lifetime's international channels will launch their own Broad Focus activities, including the production of short-form on-air and digital content featuring female content makers, local activations at festivals and events, and on-air programming initiatives to feature content made by women.

“A+E Networks is dedicated to finding and supporting female talent in a range of important behind-the-camera roles in our industry,” said Nancy Dubuc, the president and CEO of A+E Networks. “I’m extremely proud that we are rolling out Broad Focus globally to increase our impact with this initiative and help identify bold female storytellers around the world.”

“We are thrilled to take the bold efforts of Broad Focus global and unite our territories under a common and important cause,” said Amanda Hill, the chief creative officer for international for A+E Networks. “With 122-percent growth in our global audience over the past three years, it’s imperative that we use the power of our reach as a media brand to break down the barriers of entry for talented women storytellers.”
