ABC Australia Preps New Series from Chris Lilley

SYDNEY, October 30: Chris Lilley, the creator of ABC
Australia’s acclaimed We Can Be Heroes,
is at work on a new project for the pubcaster: an eight-part mockumentary set
in a suburban high school.

Production began today on Summer Heights High, in which Lilley will play multiple characters,
including Mr. G, the delusional dance and drama teacher who sees himself as
friend, counselor and inspiration to his students. “Chris Lilley will satirize
the contemporary realities of Australian school culture like no one before
him,” said Courtney Gibson, the head of arts and entertainment at ABC TV.
"This will be the most anticipated start of a school term ever."

The show will be shot in Melbourne on location over 11
weeks. It is a co-production between ABC TV and Princess Pictures.
