HBO Lines Up Maurice Sendak Special

NEW YORK: Next month, HBO is set to air a documentary special about celebrated author and illustrator Maurice Sendak, ahead of the theatrical release of Spike Jonze’s highly anticipated feature film adaptation Where the Wild Things Are.

Premiering on HBO on October 14 at 7 p.m., the 45-minute special Tell Them Anything You Want: A Portrait of Maurice Sendak looks at the life of the 81-year-old artist and features conversations between him and Jonze, who directed Where the Wild Things Are with Lance Bangs.

The documentary sees Sendak reviewing his life from infancy to the present and features stills from his childhood and young adulthood, as well as excerpts from his books. It coincides with the October 16 premiere of Warner Bros.’ big-screen adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are, co-written and directed by Jonze and starring Catherine Keener, Mark Ruffalo, James Gandolfini, Catherine O’Hara and Forest Whitaker.
