Red Kite Preps New Imp Series

EDINBURGH: The Scottish outfit Red Kite Animation is developing a longer-form version of its award-winning animation The Imp, following the success of the 2007 season of 90-second shorts.

The new 78×7-minute show will be pitched at MIPCOM, with a 7-minute pilot in production for delivery this year. The brand is targeted at teens and young adults, following its star’s ambitious but ultimately unsuccessful attempts to spread mayhem. The first series of shorts was co-produced with TV Catalunya and Screen 21 Spain and licensed to 50 countries worldwide, including the U.S. (Cartoon Network), Japan (Disney Channel), France (Canal+) and Spain (Antena 3). The licensing rollout has included footwear, accessories and apparel.

Red Kite’s credits include Dennis and Gnasher and Marvo the Wonder Chicken.
